So, Fellas - MEN'S MEETING AT 4:00 TODAY!
I want to encourage all of our members and any of your friends to attend our Bible classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Our Sunday morning auditorium class is right in the middle of studying the book of Revelation. While the purpose of this letter was to strengthen and encourage Christians that were about to face some severe persecution, there are some great lessons that apply to us, right now, today in this great letter. There is a second class in the fellowship hall that is studying the book “Why I Am A Member Of The Church of Christ.” There are some good things being discussed there as well. On Wednesday evenings we are doing a study of The New Testament Church. We are just now getting into the leadership of the church studying about elders, their responsibilities and qualifications. We will go from there to deacons and others who serve in the church. If you would really like to come to a greater knowledge and understanding of the Lord’s church I encourage you to come and be a part of this Wednesday evening class. All of these classes are open to comments, questions and discussions. We just want to share God’s Word and help all of us grow closer to God by growing closer to His Word. It is the Bible that matters for us today because it is God’s word to us, for us. Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
What are we to do with God’s word? “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15). This is where we want all of us to be, to be those who can and do handle God’s word accurately.
I hope that everyone will be able to attend this evening to hear our guest speaker, Russ Earl, who preaches for the congregation in Oologah. We helped Russ and his family make a mission trip to Figi and he will be giving us a report on this trip this evening. Also, the Lord willing, I will be leaving immediately following our evening services for Camp Rock Creek just east of Norman for their annual Christian Men’s Retreat. I hope to return Tuesday afternoon as it closes out at noon Tuesday. So, I will be out of pocket Monday and Tuesday of this week. Then, Lord willing, I will be going to Locust Grove to speak for their summer series this Wednesday evening. Neal Rice and Frank Everett are working together to see that our Wednesday evening classes and devos are taken care of during my absence.
Until next week, I love you all,
